A Celebration of Middle Division Service-Learning
Tuesday, June 04, 2019
The Middle Division Service-Learning Program has been wonderfully successful this year. In the Fall, we kicked off with an assembly, welcoming representatives from three of our partner organizations to be interviewed by our students about the importance of their work and how our participation helps to further their missions. This laid the foundation for thoughtful engagement in the activities to follow. To read more and watch a video. click here.

Horace Mann School Alum Flo Ngala's '13 Ice Skating Photographs Warm Hearts
Thursday, January 31, 2019
New Yorkers may be shivering under the icy temperatures of January 2019, but for one group of city residents, "ice" is a word that warms their hearts. These New Yorkers are the members of Figure Skating in Harlem, a program that "provides girls ages 6-18 with vital educational and skating opportunities that promote confidence, leadership, physical well-being and academic excellence." Their story has also warmed the hearts of others recently – ever since freelance photographer and Horace Mann School alum Florence (Flo) Ngala '13 showcased Figure Skating in Harlem in a vivid piece that ran on a full print page of The New York Times on January 6, 2019, and longer online. Ngala's beautiful and inspiring photographs drew widespread attention – including from NBC's "Today Show" journalist and meteorologist Al Roker.
