Tuesday, January 20th, Horace Mann School witnessed an extraordinary
chapter in American history as students, faculty and staff in all
divisions gathered to watch the nation’s first African-American
President take the oath of office.
Gross Theater, Sanders Recital Hall, the gyms in both Lower and
Upper Division and the Nursery Division Studio were filled to capacity.
Large screens and projectors gave each location a theater-like setting.
Everyone stood and some joined in singing as the Star Spangled
Banner played at the closing of the inaugural ceremonies. Horace Mann
once again reaffirmed the strength of our community and a shared sense
of new possibilities.
