Girls Varsity Volleyball in the NYSAISAA tournament.
The Girls Varsity Volleyball began the NYSAISAA postseason by defeating Trinity, 2-0. This was the third time Horace Mann played Trinity, having defeated them twice earlier in the season. The Lions entered the NYSAISAA as the #3 seed. They will play Brearley today at 5pm at the Brearley Field House 5:00 pm. The Field House is on the north side of 87th Street near First Avenue. Fall Family Gathering 2009
We would like to thank of all of you for a wonderful event on Saturday, October 17th. The Fifth Annual Family Fall Gathering was a huge success! We were fortunate to have approximately 200 guests in attendance with most of those guests being new families applying or thinking of applying to HM. Here are a few photos of that gorgeous fall day! Horace Mann welcomes Robert Hass
United States Poet Laureate, Environmentalist, and Teacher Robert Hass will be visiting the Upper Division on Tuesday, Nov. 17th. Hass will be speaking at the C period assembly in Gross Theatre, and then speaking to English classes D, E, and G in the Recital Hall. Please contact Caroline Bartels if you would like to attend the day.

This past October the Department of Theatre and Dance offered a "Mini Meredith Monk Marathon" comprised of 2 workshops and attending the performance of Ms. Monk's latest Music-Theatre piece Songs of Ascension at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
October 8th was a "Movement" workshop with Monk Ensemble Member, Ellen Fisher. October 15th we had Monk Lighting Designer, Elaine Buckholtz talk about "Light as Art" and on October 23rd a group of faculty and students went to BAM.
The HM Orchestra presented an afternoon of film music on October 22, 2009. Movies featured included: Chicago, The Civil War and Pirates of the Carribean. The concert was intended to bring the orchestra and a it's performances to a wider audience. It was a huge success and we hope to offer more afternoon concert to the community throughout the year.
