Annual Fund Volunteer Spotlight:
Grandparent Chair Bambi Felberbaum, GP ’16, ’21, ’26, ’27, ’28, P ’84

Roger and Bambi Felberbaum with granddaughter Allison August '21

Barbara “Bambi” and Roger Felberbaum have been a part of the Horace Mann School community for nearly fifty years. They are parents to Debbie August ’84 and Kenneth Felberbaum and proud grandparents to Max ’16, Jack, Allison ’21 and Samantha ’27 August and Alex ’26 and Dylan ’28 Felberbaum. Debbie August attended HM Nursery through Grade 12 and Kenneth attended Nursery through 3rd grade. Bambi feels fortunate to have had her children, and now grandchildren, attend HM, and has been delighted to see her grandchildren have some of the same teachers her children had when they were students!

Bambi has long been involved in giving back, helping out, and staying involved with the organizations she cares deeply about. As a parent, she was active with the Parents Association serving as a Class Parent, chaperoning field trips and volunteering for the Lower Division Carnival. She is also a dedicated volunteer and philanthropist at several institutions, including the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Museum of Arts and Design. She was a New York City Public School second grade teacher for a decade and has “always found it very rewarding to help children.” As a former educator and lifelong New Yorker she now enjoys being able to educate and expose her grandchildren to various cultural attractions in the City and share her love of art with them.

Currently, she serves as our new Grandparent Chair of the Annual Fund, having assumed the volunteer role from fellow grandparent and parent of alumni Jane Rittmaster GP ’15, ’16, ’19, P ’83, ’85, who served as Chair from 2008 through 2015. Additionally, Bambi has been instrumental in helping relaunch Grandparents and “Grand Friends” visiting days at HM. In April and May events on campus are planned for grandparents and “grand friends” of Nursery Division, Lower Division Kindergarten, 7th Grade, and 12th Grade students. She not only hopes that grandparents will contribute to HM when possible, but also “visit the school to appreciate and witness all of the opportunities available to their grandchildren.”
