1Summer on the Hill (SOH) is a year-round, supplemental enrichment program for promising, low-income public school students from the Bronx, Washington Heights, and Harlem. One of the most sought-after programs in New York City, SOH bridges the gap between public and private education in a nurturing setting. Founded in 1994 by Horace Mann School, SOH has now served 1,600 NYC students with accelerated academic classes, instruction in the arts and sports, test prep classes, and college trips, and has offered students and parents guidance on school and college choices. SOH is a 501(c)3 organization that receives support from generous private and corporate foundations, individual donors, and the NYS Department of Health. SOH has also received grants from former NYC Councilmen Koppell and Jackson. Housed on the campus of the Horace Mann School, SOH is deeply grateful for the School's gift-in-kind of its beautiful facilities and services valued in excess of $ 100,000 annually.
