The Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Fencing teams had a tremendous 2025-26 season, finishing with seven titles across the NYSAIS and ISFL Championships and two individual NYSAIS champions.
For the Boys’ Varsity Fencing team, they won three titles at the NYSAIS Championships on February 21:
- Overall Boys’ Fencing Champion (Épée, Foil, and Sabre)
- Boys’ Épée Team Champion (Pierce ’27, Jacob ’27, Jon ’29, and Jeremy ’27)
- Individual NYSAIS Sabre Champion (Deven ’27)
Additionally, Deven ’27 competed at the Pan American Fencing Championship in Bogotá, Colombia, on February 24, where he won a bronze medal in sabre.
The Girls’ Varsity team also earned three titles at the NYSAIS Championships:
- Overall Girls’ Runner-Up Fencing Champion (Épée, Foil, and Sabre)
- Girls’ Épée Team Champion (Erin ’28, Hallie ’27, Isha ’26, Zia ’28, and Cam ’28)
- Individual NYSAIS Épée Champion (Erin ’28), who repeated as the NYSAIS Individual Champion
In addition, the Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Fencing teams won the ISFL Fencing League Championship on January 24 with three teams finishing in first place:
- Boys’ Épée Team (Pierce ’27, Jacob ’27, Jon ’29, and Jeremy ’27)
- Girls’ Épée Team (Erin ’28, Hallie ’27, Isha ’26, Zia ’28, and Cam ’28)
- Girls’ Sabre team (Sofia ’29, Maddie ’27, Kayla ’27, Roxanna ’29, Janice ’28, and Mirai ’28).
Head Coach Ale Teran leads both the Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Fencing teams and Épée, alongside Coach Julio Benjamin (Foil) and Coach Rafael Western (Sabre). Reflecting on the season, Head Coach Teran said, “I am very grateful to the team, coaches, parents, and the Athletics Office. All of us work together to succeed.”
