The 75th Annual Robert Buzzell Memorial Basketball Tournament at Manhattan University’s Draddy Gymnasium continued one of Horace Mann School’s exciting athletic traditions.
The annual Buzzell Games once again brought together students, families, alumni, and faculty from all divisions for an evening filled with school spirit and friendly competition against longtime rival Riverdale Country School. Dressed in maroon and white, the HM community filled the stands to support the Varsity Girls’ and Varsity Boys’ Basketball teams in back-to-back matchups. Both teams played with heart, but the Falcons ultimately topped the Lions this year.
At halftime for both games, the crowd was treated to special performances by the Middle Division Dancers and the Upper Division Spirit Squad, whose routines added to the excitement of the evening. In keeping with the community spirit that defines the Buzzell tradition, proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the Greater New York Chapter of the March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society.
Special thanks to the Athletics Office whose planning and coordination ensured another successful Buzzell Games. From logistics to programming, the event reflected a strong commitment to honoring a tradition that has crossed generations of HM athletes and fans for the last 75 years.
