Strength and Conditioning
It is important for athletes to prepare their bodies for the demands of their sport well before the first day of tryouts or practice. Proper cardiovascular conditioning and strength training can prevent injuries and enable athletes to perform their sport at a higher level. Beginning to get in shape 4-6 weeks prior to beginning a sport will enhance an athleteís performance, enhance the teamís conditioning, and prevent injury. It will enable coaches to focus on the techniques and skills of the sport instead of spending significant time starting to get players into shape. Coaches will work with their team to reach optimal levels of conditioning for their sport throughout the season, however, it is much safer and easier to do if athleteís prepare similar to the preparation done for academic assessments.
