Alexa initially learned about the HM Summer Internship Program early in her junior year from a senior in her advisory. When the 2025 summer internships were made available later in the school year, she was interested in many opportunities and applied to several positions. Cantor Fitzgerald was a great fit for Alexa, as she is interested in studying business or economics in college and pursuing a career in finance. This summer, she worked on the investment banking floor, and much of her time was dedicated to a long-term project that involved macro and industry research, performing valuations, and presenting an investment thesis on a company. Alexa also learned technical skills—like how to build a valuation using public comps, precedent transactions, and current trading multiples—and industry terminology. The exposure to senior leaders, analysts in the bullpen, and college interns allowed Alexa to learn about finance, current events, and college and career paths in great detail. Alexa noted that the internship offered a very different environment than the familiar structure of school, but she quickly learned the importance of self-reliance and taking initiative in a professional setting.
