Annual Alumni Council Benefit Celebrates 20 Years

The 20^th Annual Alumni Council Benefit – held on April 27^th in the Cave du Vin at Lafayette – was a joyous celebration that marked more than $1.4 million raised in the 12 years since the Student Lunch Initiative became the event’s beneficiary.

Co-chairs Jennifer Friedman ’08, Mariel Grossman ’02 P ‘36, and Lindsay Kane ’02 P ’36 were assisted in their planning efforts by committee members Lillian Amoruso ’01, Kate Fisher ’06, Justin Lerer ’95 P ’28 ‘33, Alexandra Levin ’00, Jocelyn Levy ’03, Ephram Lustgarten ’96 P '30 '33, Katherine Prescott '05, and Suzanne B. Sloan '77.

Instrumental in the event’s success was support of corporate partners SuperSelby Transportation Corp. and the Victor Victor Foundation.

SuperSelby has provided transportation to New York City-area schools for over 40 years. Based in New York and family-owned and managed, they are a full-service company with a sincere commitment to providing dependable, reliable, and safe school bus transportation. Their highly successful business is based on a foundation of safety. Personnel must complete comprehensive certifications, state and city programs, and continual training and fitness testing to maintain their driving status, coupled with innovative safety programs and performance monitoring.

The Victor Victor Foundation, founded by Steven and Christine Victor in June of 2020, is the philanthropic division of Victor Victor Worldwide, a multi-faceted New York-based media and lifestyle conglomerate. The foundation seeks “to continue the fight to affect systematic change, to support economic empowerment for our next generation and to aid in the needs of [the Black] community.” Among its initiatives has been partnering with Vote Save America to encourage voter turnout, supporting families with grocery giveaways, and donating to the Fund for Public Schools to provide aid to students in Brooklyn to support their education and growth.

All proceeds from the Alumni Council Benefit were donated to the Student Lunch Initiative, a program that subsidizes the cost of school lunches for qualified HM students in Grades 6-12 who receive financial assistance. This important aspect of HM’s financial aid program funds school lunches for approximately 190 students, ensuring proper nutrition and helping to ease the economic burden on HM families.
