Senior Class Looks Forward to In-Person Graduation
It is official: Horace Mann School will be holding an outdoor in-person graduation celebration on Wednesday, June 16, 2021! The ceremony has been planned in compliance with New York State Department of Health and CDC recommendations on social distancing, Covid-19 testing and/or vaccination, contact tracing, health screening, and face coverings.
First-Ever "Virtual" Alumni Council Benefit Raises Nearly $120,000 for the Student Lunch Initiative
On May 12th, in a first for Horace Mann School, alumni worldwide had the opportunity to "virtually" attend the annual Alumni Council Benefit, a fundraiser seeking to fully finance HM’s Student Lunch Initiative. An important aspect of the school's financial aid program, the Student Lunch Initiative is a project designed to fund the lunch subsidy program for qualified students in Grades 6 through 12 who receive financial aid.
Homecoming and Reunions 2021
It is with a spirit of optimism that Horace Mann School has reserved Saturday, October 9, 2021, for Homecoming and Reunions. While our greatest hope is to have a safe, in-person celebration this fall, the decision about whether we will gather in person or virtually will be made in the coming months. We will communicate the details as plans evolve.
Senior Alumni Zoom Into the Digital Age
On May 24th and May 25, the Classes of 1950 and 1946 (respectively) ventured into unchartered territory by holding their first-ever "virtual" reunions on Zoom. It was universally agreed that reconnecting remotely was terrific fun!
LatinX STEAM Initiative for Girls in Grades 6 Through 12 Takes Root
A new initiative in the Middle and Upper Divisions seeks to enrich the educational experiences of girls in Grades 6 through 12 who identity as LatinX by connecting them with alumnae mentors in STEAM professions. (STEAM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics.)
18th Annual Langfan Oratorical Competition Deemed a Resounding Success
Each year, tenth-grade students are given the opportunity to participate in an oratorical competition made possible by the generosity of the Langfan family.
HM Alumna Regina K. Scully '81 Wins 2021 Amicus Award
A new documentary, "Ruth: Justice Ginsburg in Her Own Words," produced by Horace Mann School alumna Regina Kulik Scully '81, provides an enlightening look at the life of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. It premiered March 1, 2021, on Starz. The film is among the latest of the over 200 socially impactful documentary movies Scully has produced.
HM Alums Participate "Virtually" in Music Week 2021
For over a decade, the yearly Music Week has warmed the school community during the cold days of winter.

Challenge Met!
Thank you to the 209 alumni donors who answered the call of the Spring Alumni Challenge! Over $150,00 was donated to the Annual Fund during the two-week challenge and, because we surpassed our goal of 200 alumni donors, we will receive an additional grant of $60,000 from a generous group of alumni sponsors.
Faculty in the News
In February 2020, works by visual arts faculty member Kim Do were featured in "Light and Air of Summer," an exhibition at Blue Mountain Gallery in Manhattan.
Alums on the Move
A collage by Laurie Miller Hornik '86 (www.lauriemillerhornik.org) is featured in the multimedia exhibit "Together ApART: Creating During COVID,” which includes works by 200+ artists and community members during the past year and runs through August 1st at ArtsWestchester in White Plains.
