Mindich Family Center for Community Values and Action Seeks HM Alumni Involvement

Horace Mann School's Mindich Family Center for Community Values and Action (CCVA) focuses on connecting education, ethics, and action. Upper Division students are an instrumental part of the student-led “HM 246” and service-learning team programs, bridging the connection with community partner organizations by facilitating out-of-school time programming.

Here are two opportunities for connecting with current HM students through service learning:

  1. CCVA is seeking HM alumni experts for the 12th Grade Service-Learning Day conference on March 3, 2022. The theme is, "Environmental Justice and Stewardship:  Exploring Sustainable Practices and Working as a Collective." A myriad of topics will be considered during this grade-wide conference, including:  environmental health and literacy, urban community gardens, food sovereignty, asthma trends, sustainability, community refrigerators, and waste management.

  2. The CCVA is eager to connect with HM alumni who are civically engaged and are addressing different issues through their schooling, career, and/or personal endeavors.

If you are interested in participating in the conference and/or working with current students in other capacities, please email Dr. Kimberly Joyce-Bernard, Director of CCVA, at kimberly_joyce-bernard@horacemann.org.
