Applying for Financial Aid

The instructions for the financial aid application process and support materials are listed below. Please contact our office at 718-432-4101 or financial_aid@horacemann.org for more information and questions.

Currently enrolled families should refer to the Parent Portal for additional financial aid information.

Step 1: Complete the Clarity Financial Aid Application by November 15 (Required Annually)

All families who wish to apply for Financial Aid for September 2026 entry are required to complete the Clarity Application any time after September 4, 2025. We suggest that parents/guardians wait to complete Financial Aid application materials until early October to ensure that the information provided is as current as possible. The Clarity Application must be completed online (the Clarity Application is also available in Spanish). The financial aid application deadline for the 2026-27 academic year is November 15, 2025.  

  • To get started, families create an account with Clarity or login to an existing account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is also mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time.
  • At the end of the application, there is a $65 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge.

Both custodial and non-custodial parents and other guardians must complete the required Financial Aid application materials. All information provided is kept strictly confidential. If the non-custodial parent is absent, the custodial parent requesting a waiver of the required documents must complete the Horace Mann School Non-Custodial Parent Waiver Form, and submit it to the school via email or uploaded to the Clarity dashboard with a third party letter, as noted on the form.

Step 2: Complete the Enhanced Tax Verification (ETV) Process (Required Every Three Years)

This year, Clarity is introducing a new Enhanced Tax Verification (ETV) process. This new process will enable the school to receive the required tax documentation more quickly. In addition, while enrolled families must complete a Clarity application each year they wish to be considered for Financial Aid, the ETV process must only be completed once every three years.

Step 3: Upload Additional Documentation (Only If Needed)

After you complete and submit your Clarity Application, you may need to return to your Clarity Dashboard to upload some additional documentation. In addition to the 2024 tax documentation required in Clarity, we may require families to upload copies of other documents, where applicable. Other supplemental forms are sometimes required depending on family circumstances and can be uploaded directly in the Clarity dashboard.

Financial Aid Virtual Information Session

Please join Lisa Moreira, Director of Institutional Research & Enrollment Management, and Jahmire Cassanova, Assistant Director of Admissions and Assistant Director of Financial Aid, on Tuesday, October 28th at 7:00PM, for a summary of the Financial Aid process at Horace Mann School. Lisa and Jahmire will walk through the timeline of the Financial Aid process from start to finish, review the documents and materials required for an application to be considered, and allow time for Q&A at the end.

This Information Session will be hosted in a Zoom Webinar format so attendees will be viewable only to the hosts. This webinar is open to families who have inquired or submitted an application for the 2026-27 academic year. Please register in the Ravenna system; a link will be provided a few days in advance to those who have registered. Registration is available via Ravenna. Current HM families may register via the Parent Portal.

Clarity Support and Financial Aid Application Webinars

If you need support during the process of completing your Clarity application, there is in-app support available through the “Get Help” button in the bottom left of the screen, as well as email and phone support at support@clarityapp.com or 206-210-3752, in both English and Spanish. The application itself is also fully translated into Spanish. 

Parents and other guardians are also invited to attend any of the family information sessions hosted by Clarity to learn more about how to fill out the the Clarity application for Financial Aid. (Note these Clarity webinars are not specific to Horace Mann School and are optional.)
