Learn How to Swim
This course will teach students how to swim with a "soft" outcome objective of passing a standard swimming assessment of 100 yards of continuous swimming and 1 minute of treading. Depending on a students current ability and comfort, students will be taught and will practice a variety of swimming skills. These will include, water comfort, breathing, kicking, floating, and arm integration. Students will progress towards learning freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and side-stroke. Water safety concepts will be covered. Students should expect to have FUN!!! Students who would most benefit from this course are those who are designated as either non-swimmers or novice swimmers on the HM swim assessment given during physical education class and those self identifying as non-swimmers or novice swimmers.
This course is open to rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.
This course runs for one week, half day from June 26 - June 30, 2023. This course is a morning course which runs from 9:00am-11:30am.
