Physical Education

Because many students are three-season athletes, or are enrolled in Dance PE, finding time in a student's schedule to complete the requirements for Health and CPR prove difficult. These one-week courses fulfill graduation requirements and allow students some flexibility in scheduling.

Health 1

The Summer Health Education curriculum offers a comprehensive and interactive platform designed exclusively for rising 10th grade students. This intensive program serves as a forum to delve into various health issues, empowering students to understand, analyze, and make informed decisions that directly affect their quality of life.

Course Overview:

As participants progress through the curriculum, they engage in a variety of learning methods, including lectures, research, role-playing, written and oral reports, films, hands-on activities, and interactive group discussions. The skills acquired in this course provide a solid foundation for exploration in key areas such as health and wellness, behavior change, substance use and misuse, sexuality and sexual health, relationships, stress, sleep, mental health, nutrition, and disease risk reduction.

This course is exclusively open to rising 10th graders. Any student who is not a rising 10th grader and wishes to enroll must seek approval from Mr. McDonald or Mr. Russo.

This course runs for one week from Monday, June 17 - Friday, June 21, 2024. It will meet in the morning session, from 9:00am-11:30am. School is closed on Wednesday, June 19.

Registration will open in late January.

CPR/AED with First Aid for the Professional Rescuer

Embark on a specialized journey in life-saving with our CPR/AED with First Aid for the Professional Rescuer course, tailored exclusively for rising 11th and 12th graders. This certification program equips students with essential knowledge and hands-on training to provide first aid in emergency situations.

Course Highlights

Participants will delve into the intricacies of rescue breathing, first aid for choking, CPR with AED, and other vital lifesaving skills. The course employs a dynamic approach, utilizing videos, lectures, and hands-on skill-building to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.

There will be separate morning and afternoon sections. The morning section will meet from 9:00am-11:30am, and the afternoon section will meet from 12:30pm-3:00pm. Both sections are open to rising 11th and 12th graders. Any student who is not a rising 11th or 12th grader and wishes to enroll must seek approval from Mr. McDonald or Mr. Russo.
