Throughout the course of the year I have the privilege of reviewing many wonderful projects for students and faculty members; projects that allow our curriculum to live and breathe in unique and awe-inspiring ways.

As prospective HM parents learned at our Open House last night, we not only pride ourselves on having talented and imaginative faculty members capable of producing citizens who think freely and respond to reason, we pride ourselves on attracting students who long to be pushed to the heights of their abilities; who want to mine their worth for all its worth.

With the state of our School on course, and encouraged by your support, we will continue to forge ahead in pursuit of our ultimate goal: providing young people of exceptional mind and spirit with opportunities for learning that will inform and enrich their lives.

Horace Mann alumni have opportunities to become active with their School and its students in many ways. Last year alumni took part in life on campus as speakers and participants in such dynamic programs as HM's annual Book Day and Women's Issues Dinner, as volunteers at the School's Service Learning Day, as exhibitors in an alumni photography show, and in alumni athletic events and Theater Department productions.

Sometimes it’s difficult to know if active and energetic children need more active play and time outdoors or if more active play and time outdoors produces more active and energetic children.

Halloween is in the air at the Lower Division. Costume conversation is everywhere. We’re looking forward to parading to Clark Field in celebration.

On Friday October 24th sixth grade parents are cordially invited to spend part or all of the day attending classes with your son or daughter. Please check in at the Middle Division Office to receive a visitor’s pass when you arrive, and please turn off your cell phone. We will follow a regular schedule of classes.

I've just finished a meeting with parents of Upper Division students at which I've been explaining our systems of students care. One relatively new element of the way we take care of our students and one of which most of the audience were not aware, is the "red dot" system.
