Applying for Financial Aid
Horace Mann has a strong commitment to providing Financial Aid to students who could not otherwise attend. All Financial Aid is based on need; no merit scholarships are awarded. For the 2012-2013 academic year, 16.4% of the students receive more than $8,600,000 in Financial Aid for tuition and related costs.
Admission to Horace Mann is need-blind. Applicants are evaluated without regard to a request for Aid. However, because we often admit more students that require Aid than we are able to fund, admitted students do not always receive Aid even if they qualify.
Financial Aid Application materials for 2013-14 are available at this link. All families who wish to apply for Aid for September 2013 entry are required to complete the NAIS School and Student Services Parent Financial Statement (PFS). In additon, we require families to submit:
- 2011 United States 1040 form(s) and all schedules
- 2012 W-2 forms
- a signed, undated IRS Form 4506 for each tax return filed
- Other supplemental forms are sometimes required depending on family circumstances.
For current families, Financial Aid paperwork is due each year by December 1. For families applying a child for admission to Horace Mann, Aid paperwork is due by January 1.
Both custodial and non-custodial parents must complete the required paperwork. All information provided is kept strictly confidential. The PFS may be completed on line and is available at the link above. (The PFS worksheet and instructions are also available in Spanish at the SSS website.)
