Our students take pride in Horace Mann. They are eager to share their experience with prospective students and families. Students in grades 8 through 12 can volunteer to participate in the Student Ambassador program. Each year, roughly 150 of them choose to spend one free period each week helping the Admissions Office at the Middle and Upper Divisions welcome new families to campus. They give tours and answer questions.
In addition to volunteering time during the school day, Ambassadors host a question and answer session at each of the fall Open Houses, respond to email questions, and help with events like Homecoming and Middle & Upper School Orientation Days.
The Ambassadors are selected based upon their interest in the program, their willingness to talk to others about their time at Horace Mann, and the other activities in which they participate. They must also be recommended to the program by two faculty members. Our Ambassadors represent a variety of different backgrounds and have been at Horace Mann for between one and fifteen years. They are all eager to welcome visitors and to share their Horace Mann experiences.
The Ambassador Program is coordinated by Mr. Chris Garrison, HM '04, Assistant Director of Admissions. The program is led by the Student Ambassador Leaders, six seniors and six juniors selected from the Ambassador membership.
