From its inception in 1887 as an experimental school for teacher training to the glory of all it represents today, Horace Mann is an institution that celebrates the joy of learning and the privilege of being a part of an exceptionally talented and wonderfully articulate community of learners. Newly constructed and renovated campuses in Manhattan, Riverdale, and Washington, Connecticut set the stage for a vast array of programs geared towards the unique and dynamic needs of our diverse student body.
True to the mission of Horace Mann himself, we strive to turn consumers of knowledge into producers of knowledge in a manner that is both socially responsible and intellectually rewarding. The value and potential of each and every student remain at the core of our very existence, in academic, artistic or athletic pursuits. Students attend Horace Mann from 149 zip codes with 18% receiving financial aid. We are as ethnically, racially, and socio-economically diverse as we are in our curriculum and instructional experiences.
I hope that you will enjoy your visit to our web site and come back frequently to share in all that we feel privileged to offer. An incredibly delightful community of students, staff, faculty, parents, and alumni/ae awaits you at every turn!
