Horace Mann School has been nationally recognized as only of five schools in New York State to achieve 1st Team status by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA). According to the NATA website, “1st Team awards are given to schools that have acted on all recommended and required elements of the Safe Sports School checklist. … In order to achieve Safe Sports School status, athletic programs must do the following:

Director of Athletics Bob Annunziata shared, “The award is an acknowledgment of the work that Athletic Trainer Amy Mojica and her staff have done on behalf of the School over many years to provide the safest possible environment for our students as well as reinforcing the importance of providing the best level of care, injury prevention and treatment for our athletes.” Head of School Tom Kelly added, “I’m delighted by the well-deserved recognition for our entire Athletics, Health and Physical Education department. While all of our Core Values apply in every aspect of our programs, a Secure and Healthful Environment is a priority in athletics and physical education, alongside Mutual Respect, Mature Behavior, A Balance Between Individual Achievement and a Caring Community, and the Life of the Mind.”
